I snapped this cute picture of her before we headed out the door....she looks ready...and since Elliott doesn't start school until next week, we had the morning to ourselves, and this is what we did:

so......we went on vaction to Hilton Head Island, SC back in May and have a ton of great beach pictures, that I have not been able to figure out what to do with. In all my spare time, I was browsing through some of my favorite blogs, and came across this great idea over at J Caroline's blog.

And, unfortunately, Elliott comes by his lack of focus honestly, because my morning was supposed to be a productive morning spent sewing and getting orders ready to ship.....but yet, here we are at 11 am with not much sewn....but a beautiful collage that I am so excited about!

So I was preparing to write an "almost at 1,000 sales" blog post on Monday, June 14th, but by the time it was complete, I had already made it to 1,000 sales. Which is great!

I truly never thought I would see this day 3 1/2 years ago when I decided to set up shop on Etsy!

To acknowledge this great accomplishment, I'm thinking of having an Easy Edges give away!

I am going to post the new things that have been added to the shop over the past month....and all you have to do is post a comment on what you like best and why by Monday June 21:) Then I will put all the names into a hat and let my trusty 4 year old pick the lucky winner. ....I can NOT believe it has been almost 9 months since I have updated my blog. Well, actually I can. Life has been a whirlwind since September 18, 2009 at precisely 8:34 am, when we welcomed our baby girl into the world! She came in strong and has captured our hearts ever since. We are in absolute love with our Emerson Grace....especially her older brother.

Here are some pics to fill in all my loyal blog followers (which I am sure there are thousands who have been on the edge of their computer chairs, wondering what happened to us;)

We went in for our last ultrasound this week and everything looked as it should. The tech said she could see hair sticking up on her head! And the bubble looking thing below her mouth is the umbilicol cord, but Elliott got a kick out of the fact that she looked like she was blowing bubbles.

lots of other things have been happening around here while we wait for our little girl...Elliott finished up his first set of swim lessons at the YMCA and is very proud of his ribbon he achieved:

and we've been spending a lot of time in the baby room, making sure everything including her glider is working properly:

And, most importantly, the begining of the new year of prechool is next week! Elliott is in the 3 year old Giraffe room this year. We went to his meet and greet this morning, and I think it is going to be a great year!

One month left until our baby girl is due. She has dropped soooo low, I honestly feel she could pop out any minute! But hopefully we will make it into September before she makes her grand entrance. She was 5lbs at her 35 week ultrasound.

The house is slowly coming together and the garage door is finally on!

which means we can finally start clearing out the dining room and den of stuff!

And the baby's room is just about complete...I still need to get a longer curtain rod, finish the crib skirt, and hang things on the walls....oh and fix the book shelf I broke a couple of weeks ago.

And after our looong overwhelming search and debate for a new glider or to reupholster our existing chair, I came across this one on Craig's List. I have never done anything on Craig's list, but when I saw this glider, I knew it was the one! It had white wood, pink cushions, and looked very new. The previous owner said she hardly used it. I am so excited with the deals I've been scoring recently...and speaking of deals....I guess Babies R Us is getting hit by the recession, because I got a coupon in my email for $15 gift card if I purchased 2 boxes of diapers. And I had another $2.00 coupon that was about to expire that day. So I made the long drive over to get my $17.00 in savings...and for some reason, I was awarded a $25 gift card instead. That is a $27.00 savings in diapers!!!! Our baby girl (hopefully) is stocked up with diapers for awhile....

so I got lucky and was accepted as a first time mom to the All 4 Kids sale out at the JR Miller Park last night...which means I got to shop early, before the sale opened to the public; and boy did we make out.....we got a bassinet, a sit and stand stroller, a power wheels F-150 (for elliott's big brother gift), a buzz light year costume that he has been bugging me about AND most importantly a nice little suit just his size to wear to my cousin's wedding next weekend....look how cute he is:

he should really be able to cut a rug in this get up:)

I've been wanting one of these sit n' stand strollers for awhile too: Elliott is testing out the baby seat to make sure it works properly.

The curtains are finished and hung! YAY...but the little bookshelf unfortunately did not survive the installment.

I have no idea what led me to believe that this cheap little particle board bookshelf would hold my pregnant self while stretching to reach something!!!

so we've already cleaned this room out once, but I swear, I think this room has some sort of magnet on it. Things around the house just get sucked in and find a new home here. I hope this is not the case once the baby arrives and it is officially "her" room.

If you have been following our progress, then you know about the garage in the back yard that was built to store all these odds and ends. Well, we aren't able to move anything out there until garage door is installed......sooooo....here is what our dining room looks like after the first clean out of the nursery:

and here is what the nursery looks like after cleaning Elliott's closet out this past weekend: But, don't worry! I am not panicking yet, because we went and bought all the supplies for her room this past weekend, including the pink paint, which I am absolutely thrilled about! It is called "Sleeping Beauty Pink" and I'm hoping this name serves as a premonition of how good a sleeper she will be;)

I plan to make the curtains, dust ruffle, and bumper out of this fabric.

I also already have a pink sheet on her bed, and the bumper that I am going to add the fabric to is installed. (i feel i am making some headway in the sea of baby stuff that seems to be taking over our house right now):

AND I also have this great pink basket, that I don't know what I'm going to do with yet, but isn't it great? Most pink stuff for baby girl's is so pastel pink, that I was excited to find something more vibrant. It will probably hold her diapers and whatnots near the changing table:
Ohhh....and this green chair has also been causing me some problems right now. I LOVE the chair, because it was my Grandma's and Aunt Carol's, and holds a lot of sentimental value; and was the chair that I held Elliott in for so many years. But the green is just not going to fly in my pretty pink nursery. So I am trying to decide whether to re-upholster it, or get a new chair for her nursery....decisions, decisions!

And last, but not least, I had this FABULOUS diaper bag made, by a fellow etsy seller, Watermelon Wishes. So when the room starts to get on my nerves for still being brown, and messy, I just look over at my wonderful diaper bag, and I feel sooooo much better:) Isn't it funny how a great bag can make you feel that way?

ALSO, this dresser, that the diaper bag is hanging on, was my dad's old dresser that I painted and added the decorative knobs too. The knobs were painted the color of Elliott's nursery, so I plan to do the same for her. Her knobs of course will be pink!

underway!

We live in a 3 bedroom ranch house, and right now our third bedroom multi-functions as storage, junk room and josh's home office. So we ran into the problem of where to put all this stuff when we found out we were pregnant with our second child. That is when our "garage project" was formalized. We bought the house four years ago with this slab of concrete already installed in the back yard:(the leftovers of the previous owner's unfinished project), and for 4 years have been talking about building on it...so now we are! and I keep saying "we", like I am out there swinging a hammer....haha...and we all know that is not going to happen. That's when Josh enlisted the help of his dad and two brothers. We are very fortunate to have a family member in the construction industry who is a very gifted builder. Check out our wall project from last year. (you can also see some better finished pictures of it here and here)

now Josh's weekends will be filled with the finishing touches, such as installing the garage door, the siding, and moving everything from our third bedroom out to the garage.

Also, we will be trading in the pick-up truck for a more suitable family vehicle. I'm sure I will be blogging about our search for the perfect family car.

I've made the decision to close up shop this week. Elliott and I are about to go to Virginia and Destin, FL for 2 weeks. I thought about just putting my shop on vacation and re-opening in July. But to be honest, I'm just getting plum burned out! Trying to keep up with the orders, my 3 year old, my growing belly, and getting this tiny house sorted out to make room for our baby girl; is just getting to be TOO much. The closing will be indefinite, as our lives adjust to a family of 4 instead of 3. Who knows...maybe I will be ambitious enough to open back up for Christmas....but if not, definitely sometime in 2010! Thank you to all my customers for keeping me in business, and to all my friends and Mom who continuously support me through all the side orders. I truly do appreciate it!

Josh and I were cracking up because he was shouting out orders to the yournger kids the whole time, and they surprisingly were listening to him and having a great time. Great Memorial Day Weekend

We drove up to North Carolina for Josh's Family Reunion, and stopped in Wilmington for 2 nights along the way. We played at Wrightsville Beach on Saturday, did the family reunion on Sunday, and drove the long drive back on Monday. But we topped the whole trip off with a stop at the ultra tacky "South of the Border" in South Carolina for lunch.

What a great weekend, I hope everyone had safe and happy holiday weekend:)

to all my fellow mommies out there. I hope everyone had a wonderful day...we did!

I started the day out pretending I wasn't on my diet, and had a donut at church, and it was SOOOO worth the sugar and carbs:) Then we had a brunch in sunday school, then Josh and Elliott took me out to lunch to my most favorite lunch spot, Moes!, then we headed down to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and finally finished the day up with the All you can Eat Crab Legs at Vinings Grill....what a delicious Mother's Day!

and this past Saturday was the last soccer game of the season. It is amazing how much E had improved from the first game to the last....check out his moves....

look at that determination in his face...i'm so proud of him...even though i recently learned that it is vain to say you are "proud", but I don't know what other word to use....and of course the game was followed up with a party and snacks!!!and look how proud he is of his trophy...

what they say about not taking as many pictures of the second pregnancy and child. I hadn't taken any pics of my belly up until last night, and with Elliott I took them every week. Just thought I would share my growing belly:

GIRL!!!

I am so beside myself that we are having a girl!!! I was really expecting another boy, so much so that I cried when the ultrasound tech said it was a girl. I don't think I realized that I wanted a girl so bad. All my visions of dresses, frilly little bloomers, bows, and the cutest pink nursery ever are finally going to come true!!!

We finally get to know what Baby #2 is!!!

Which will be some exciting news in the midst of finding out that I have the Gestational Diabetes again with this baby! I did the refresher class yesterday and looks like it is protein and fiber for me for the next 20 weeks....ugh!

And I just want to gripe about something that has been bothering me....I am so SICK of hearing the word "failed". I got a phone call informing that I "failed" the 1 hour test, then a follow up phone call confirming that i have "failed" the 3 hour test. It's not anything that I can control or study for!!! Please stop saying I failed! Like it isn't bad enough that I have to be on a diet for the next 20 weeks, I also have to keep hearing the word which is starting to make me feel like the biggest failure of all! It's not like I am an over weight person, or eat a ton of sugary junk food; but if you insist on pumping me full of some sugary orange drink and then stick a needle in my arm and are surprised to find the sugar still coursing thru my veins, then just state the facts and tell me what to do to keep the baby healthy....don't say I failed some test that I didn't even sign up for or was given a feasible way to pass it.

Sorry about that....I just had to get it off my chest. I'm done, and on to more important things like Wednesday, April 29th, when we finally get to know if Elliott is going to have a baby brother or sister. Please let me know what you think it is:)

April has been a whirlwind for us so far...with trips, and many other things going on; but I want to do a quick post on what's been happening in our little part of the world.

On April 3rd, Josh and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary. I am so proud of this! We have come a long way in just 5 years. It makes me excited to think what the next 5 have in store for us...

1st year anniversary ~ Charleston, SC

2nd year anniversary ~ was quiet because this little guy had just been born
3rd anniversary ~ a weekend away to Callaway Gardens
4th year anniversary ~ we took a trip to Europe later in the year

and this year, we went out to dinner and then on to Jamaica!!!

which was just fabulous!!!!

it's potty time....

so after clocking many, many, many hours of sitting on the potty, Elliott has finally decided he is going to use it. True to form, Elliott had to do it on Elliott's time. For the past few months we've been talking about the potty, reading books about the potty, and sitting on the potty (in every room of the house)....but no pee-pee! Then all of sudden on Wednesday, after sitting on the potty for oh close to 2 hours while watching cartoons (i know that is a lot of tv time....but i was determined), something miraculous happened....he PEED on the potty!!!!
So of course, I praised him endlessly, picked him up, spun him around the room, and he was finally able to open his Batman toy (aka: the " if you pee-pee on the potty" bribery toy that has been sitting on top of the refrigerator for a few weeks now).
I was afraid that bribery wouldn't last long, but I was amazed at the progress my little boy made in one day. By that night he was sitting on the potty, and pushing his pee-pee out within a few minutes. He now gets rewarded with m&m's every time he pee-pee's.

Day 2, of pee-peeing on the potty, he pee-pee'd at school, at home, and on a restaurant potty while out to eat AND, woke up this morning with a DRY diaper, ready to put his pee-pee on the potty. Now, don't get me wrong, we've had a couple of accidents along the way...but I am ONE PROUD MAMA!!!

I know I've rambled on about pee-pee, and for those that don't have kids this may sound a bit excessive and gross, but you just don't understand the stress and pressure of potty training. The pressure for your child to perform is unbelievable!

we started the grand celebration off with a week in Disney with Grandma and Pop-Pop. and then had a birthday party at our favorite restaurant: McDonald's!!!

Elliott's actual birthday is tomorrow, February 1st, but I know I won't have time to post!

Happy New Year,

I know I am a little late, but I've made a couple of resolutions this year.

The first being to cook more (which is going really well so far, I got a few great cookbooks for Christmas) and the second is business oriented. I resolve to have atleast one new type of item created and listed in the shop each month this year. Here is January's:

Bible Study...

Josh and I have found an awesome church here in Smyrna, Smyrna First United Methodist Church, where we have been members for over 3 years now, and have had the honor of meeting some great people thru the Seekers Sunday School Class! This past weekend we had a going away party for a family who is moving after the New Year. We are very sad to lose them, but know this move is best for their family. During the party we decided to try to get a group shot, and I was so excited that I was able to fit everyone in, and amazingly enough everyone is looking at the camera and smiling!

so i was out in the backyard last week snapping some pictures for the shop, and couldn't help but notice the way our Maple's yellow leaves were catching the afternoon sun. It was gorgeous against the crisp blue sky....i'm no photograoher, but i tried to capture the beauty...

and yes, that is my dog. I fall way short of being a so called "dog-lover"; and VERY rarely take pictures of her or acknowledge that we have a family pet...haha....but she is a great dog, and I love that I caught her frolicking in the leaves.

Ice Show

I was pleasantly surprised at the success I experienced at the ICE show this past weekend. I have never participated in this show, and wasn't sure what to expect when on Saturday morning Josh and I arrived at what looked like an abandoned warehouse off the beaten path in Atlanta (the ghetto, to be more exact). And then I arrive inside with all of my tables and racks to find that my booth was a 6' X 5"!!!! So after a little panicking and rearranging I was finally able to squish it all down onto one table. But I must admit, the people running ICE impressed me. They had staggered loading times for the vendors, which to my amazement, people abided by; and loading and packing back up that night was truly a breeze. AND, more importantly, it was PACKED all day long! I had record sales for a 1 day show. So thank you to everyone who came out. It was definitely worth the stress! and to fill you in on what else has been happening around here, I celebrated my 29th birthday a couple of weeks ago on November 8th.... and was treated to a fancy adult dinner the night before at my favorite restaurant, Dante's Down the Hatch. And then the day of my birthday, Josh surprised me with a pedicure at Spa Sydell and a blissful day of shopping at the mall, sans Elliott! It was truly wonderful! I took my time, and was actually able to browse thru the mall, which doesn't happen very often anymore. Thanks sweetie! My 29th was a good one.....Now the count down begins to doom day, the big 3-0.....haha!

oh and we have started pulling out our Christmas decorations.... should be a fun one this year....Elliott is already abiding by the phrase,"Santa wants you to be a good boy....so you should eat your dinner, pick up your toys, etc!"....we'll see how long that lasts.

I finally finished the costume....to which Elliott replies, "I don't want to be a clown, I want to be a Crocodile!"......wherever that came from! I just reminded him how many hours Mommy spent slaving and sewing his costume........and that he wouldn't get any candy unless he was a clown. Bribery works great at this age. He even let me paint his face....this kid will do anything for a lollipop:)trunk or treating at the church was sooo much fun! and we carved our pumpkin this week!

turned out to be a great fall weekend, despite the cold mornings!

so we picked out our pumpkins this past weekend....and found the perfect one.... and rode on our hayride....
and to complete our pre-halloween weekend I have started on Elliott's costume. Last year I waited until the last minute and had to get him a store bought costume (ah...the horror....i know) But this year I am starting early in hopes of having it ready for the big week....stay tuned to see what he has chosen to be.

OH yeah, also....I have been sewing my little fingers off getting ready for next weekend's Smyrna Jonquil Festival. Please come out for this fun, family friendly event.

talk about a blogging hiatus! Sorry about that. I've spent the last month getting Elliott and I adjusted to our new life with me at home. It was definitely an adjustment at first, but we are loving life now! Now that I've gotten over my unrealistic expectations of everything I planned to do with my new found time; and now realize that a majority of this said time is spent with him, and not cooking, cleaning, sewing and doing odd things around the house (i.e. blogging) while he sits there fully self entertained.....

so let me fill you in on the last month.....

we started off with a camping trip up to Vogel State Park in the North GA mountains for Josh's birthday.

and had all sorts of good fun...
and then Elliott and I met up with Grandma and Grandpa Mulkey ( i do LOVE the flexibility i now have to pick up and go like that)
and recently I've been preparing for my first fall show this coming weekend, the Atlanta Hand Crafted Fall Showcase...

so if you are in the Atlanta area this coming Saturday, October 4th, please feel free to stop by. In my opinion, this is a collaboration of some great Etsy sellers! And their will be door prizes, wine, and finger food!!!

after a full blown photo shoot this past Saturday afternoon (which involves my backyard, my makeshift white box, and my point-and-shoot camera), I think I came away with a few pictures I'm proud of.

...these bad boys have always been a great seller at my craft shows. But, I thought I would try something different this season. I'm using my fabric scraps instead of ribbon to make them. I think they turned out quite nice. I've never carried them in the shop, but I think they may be making an appearence this week....just to see how they do.

I love custom requests, and recently had someone ask if i could make those necktie onesies. I've seen them before, but had never tried to make any. I'm super excited about this addition to my shop. Being a mommy of a boy, I know how unfair it is that the baby girls get all the cute clothes. I am so happy to offer these in my shop now....more to come over the next few weeks!

so I had a friend coming over to peruse and shop whatever inventory I had for some baby gifts she needed, and i was just tossing things out on my dining room table and these two ended up next to each other, and i thought to myself that they looked pretty cute together (she by the way loved it and purchased the set)!
I've never really thought of mixing fabric patterns to create a new set. The elephant is from the animal crackers collection and the polka dots are part of the disco dot collection all by Michael Miller.

And it has now found a home in my shop.

I've had this Rocket Rascals fabric for awhile, and have sold some ribbon blankets with it, but hadn't really taken the time to creat a gift set. I think it turned out darling and is now listed in the shop.

i've also been trying to take pictures in natural light with a lighter background, still a work in progress... i do love how vibrant the colors look and the natural shadows that are created....

We had an awesome time:) Here is a quick "cliff-notes" version of our 10 day trip to Europe:

we started off by flying from Atlanta to Virginia to drop the little one off with the grandparents, here he is chilling on the plane (little does he know that it is quite dorky to wear your pj's in public...), but he thought he was cool, and that is all that matters...

then we flew from Virginia to Paris, connecting back in Atlanta (i know!....crazy amount of flying for one day, but soooo worth it), because this is what we did on our first day:

Notre Dame

a little pick-me-up to help withthe jet lag

and that night we walked to the Eiffel and drank wine and watched the tower sparkle

and here we are on our second day:

Arc de Triompheday three, London:

Big Ben

we did a boat tour down the Thames to Greenwich

then ended our even with a viewing of A midsummer's Nights Dream at the Globe Theater, we also saw the Broadway show Wicked the night before.

on our fifth day we took a train out to Salisbury, England, and caught a bus to Stonehenge.

we stayed the night in a bed and breakfast in Salisbury, which by the way was a great day trip from London, we did a climbing tour of the Salisbury Cathedral, which is the tallest in England.

day 6 we took the train from Salisbury back to London Airport, and flew to Inverness, Scotland.

day 7, we did a 6.5 hour boat cruise out to Lake Ness (where the Lochness Monster supposedly dwells) and the Urqhart Castle

it was quite coldday 8 was a typical rainy day in Scotland, we just hung around the city and did some souvenir shopping

day 9, we took the crack of dawn train from Inverness to Edinburgh, and spent the afternoon exploring the castle and the city

Although we had a wonderful time, it was a great feeling to arrive home to Virginia to the running open arms of a toddler.

Now that Vacation is over, it is time to get back down to business, I have a few orders to catch up on and send out that were placed while I was gone, but I hope to be working on and posting some new things over the next couple of weeks. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer:)

I really don't mean to brag...but I am SUPER-EXCITED!!!

We are flying into Paris, spending one night, then taking the Chunnel over to LONDON for 3 nights, then out to Salisbury, England to do Stonehenge for one night, then we fly up to Scotland for 4 nights hiking in the Highlands!!!! And this is all without Elliott...but don't feel too bad for him, he will be spending the 10 days up in Virginia Beach with the Grandparents, probably getting spoiled rotten!

My Grandma's Precious Moments...

although there were many of them with my Grandma....the kind I'm talking about are the figurine Precious Moments. My Grandma was an avid collector and lover of anything having to do with Precious Moments...I am fortunate enough to now own a miniscule portion of her collection, if you can imagine! And they have now found a new home in this glass "NO TOUCH" cabinet in my dining room. I have ingrained in Elliott how much of a no touch cabinet this is, that he now walks up to it and says "NO TOUCH MAMA"....haha....he sure is a piece of work....
i tried to crop in to get a better picture of the figurines....but this picture isn't that great...pardon my flash and the reflection...i guess i was having a blonde moment and didn't think to simply open the doors to avoid the glare.

Ribbon Blankets....

I don't want to use my blog as a place to complain or bash anybody or anything...but a situation has come up recently that has extremely upset me. Etsy will no longer allow me or any Etsy shops to make and sell Ribbon/Tag Blankets/Loveys....whatever you want to call them....anymore! Apparently the Taggies Brand people have contacted them on the basis that we are violating itellectual property copyrights. It is a sad day when a huge company like Taggies has to lash out at us Work at Home Mommys just trying to make a little extra income whilest doing what we love and raising our children. They are that insecure of a company that they won't allow a little friendly competition. So anywhoo.....I will be taking orders here for ribbon blankets from now on. Please simply e-mail me at: sherryaharrell@hotmail.com, and we will work out the details. I can send paypal invoices directly to you, therefore cutting out the middle man: Etsy!

Until I figure out a way to keep a permant display of all patterns available at the top of my blog, I will just post them here in this posting for now.

Falling Water

We crammed a tour of Falling Water into our trip up to West Virginia earlier this month. My brother-in-law graduated from West Virginia University (yes, i know! we'll forgive him for that though). For those that don't know, Falling Water was designed by one of the greatest and most influential architects of our time, Frank Lloyd Wright. I love his work, and felt so lucky to be able to catch a tour of it on our short weekend trip up for the graduation. As toddlers are not allowed on the tour, Josh graciously walked around and explored with Elliott while I toured.

Little Gym....

I must say we weren't all that sad that E attended his last Little Gym session. Some kids are cut out for organized group activities; mine ain't got it! I have to say some weeks we enjoyed it, but most of the time, Josh and I found ourselves running around the red mat following instructions with the other parents and toddlers, while Elliott was off across the room solo exploring. But I was able to catch a few pics of him in action:

Relay for Life

Thanks to all who supported Josh and I and the Relay for Life event in Cobb County. The event as a whole raised $850,000 for the fight against cancer. We were on the Virginia Tech Alumni Assoc.'s team, and our team alone raised close to $1,200!

We had an awesome turn out for the event. Couldn't have asked for better weather. Elliott had a great time running around, people watching, playing games, walking laps, along with more running around. He passed out around midnight in our tent and slept until the morning- what a team player!

Big Boy Room...

Elliott's nursery has slowly been transitioning into his "big boy" room ever since he turned 2 back in February. ( i need to find a picture of what his nursery used to look like)....but here are some recent pictures....

josh and my dad painted it a more "big boy" blue (Blue Fox by Behr Paint):

and then last weekend I found this fabulous children's room artist, Gina Byrd at a local festival, and she had artwork that she had painted specifically for the Woolrich Camping Bear's Bedding collection from Target, which is what Elliott has! I am SOOOO excited....I have been searching everywhere for the perfect art for his room for months (and everyone knows that a toddler's room must be perfectly coordinated!)

Minor House Remodel....

We have finally begun the house remodel that we have been talking about since we moved in back in '05. We live in a 70's brick ranch style house, with a very compartmetalized layout. We have a cozy little den at the back of the house with a fire place and my sewing studio, and a wonderful (still kind of small) living room at the front of the house. We've aganoized over the fact that we never use our fireplace simply because it is not in the room we use most often, and the fact that i am in the room a lot sewing, but again, this is not the room Josh and Elliott would most likely be found in. So many a Saturday afternoons, find me in this room sewing, josh working on his lap top in the other, and Elliott running to and fro.

So we decided to take the wall out.....

Thank goodness Josh's dad is a carpenter, because he said that was a load bearing wall, so he had to reinforce it with double 2x12's: (josh is doing a good job supervising:)

With the flannel being a thicker material and with the various layers, my machine needle kept getting all gummy from the fusing fabric I back all the appliques with. I love taking such a simple, geometric fabric, and rearranging the elements to create something so different!

I'm trying out some new fabrics for the new year. This is a new marco polo swimming monkey's fabric that I have fallen in LOVE with!!! I hope to make more items in this pattern. I started with a little burp cloth set: and I'm also trying out new things in fabrics that are already top sellers. I had a request to make a diaper caddy in the little cowpoke fabric that I sell the heck out of, and I think it turned out just darlin':

This is our official Christmas- 2007 picture. I took about 100 to get this one perfect picture:) Believe me Elliott and Josh were about to kill me by the end....(one could say I'm a bit of a perfectionist about certain things)

Elliott attended his own Christmas party this year put on by Josh's company...and their was a surprise visitor from Santa!We let Elliott open up one gift the night before we celebrated our Christmas....he's gotten a lot better at unwrapping gifts since last year....check out the play-by-play....

i think he likes the football! Good choice Daddy....(oops....i mean Santa)!

We celebrated our own little christmas this past weekend, since we are headed home to Virginia Beach for the big day. This is what was waiting for Elliott when he woke up Sunday morning... he was very excited and pointed to everything.... he's getting good at this "un-wrapping of the gifts" thing... i think we have a musician on our hands!

and last but not least....we got to go to a grown-up Christmas party as well....I hope everyone has a very Merry and safe Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

my bestest friend in the world. We met in the 5th grade and have been inseparable ever since! I don't think she reads my blog (she's not the computer type of person), but just in case I won't go into to much detail about her christmas gift this year. But I decided to try to do something extra special. I had to dig pretty deep to find the below pictures. But they make me smile when I think of all the things we've been thru together. Growing up as an only child, she is definitely the sister I never had:)

A tropical Thanksgiving for the Harrells...

Well Turkey day was a little different for us this year. Instead of heading home to cram 3 meals with 3 different families into one day, we decided to head south and catch a little R & R at the beach. Living here in Atlanta, we go through beach withdrawl quite often; and hadn't until this point gotten any beach time this year.

Elliott was a little apprehensive of the ocean water that would come and go and sometimes catch him off guard by sneaking up on him, but he LOVED the sand. He even consumed a bit with his lunch.

Yes those are Christmas lights around the palm tree. We saw a lot of that. We just couldn't get in the christmas mood though while wearing shorts and flip-flops.

Warning: the below image contains a bit of nudity. We were trying to air out a little diaper rash that had started to form on Elliott's poor hiney, and I couldn't resist this picture. You can't tell from the picture but he is coverd in sand from head to toe!

What a beautiful Fall weekend for a craft show....This past weekend was my third time participating in the Smyrna Jonquil Festival Craft show, and I had record sales...woohoo....I guess all those nights of endless cutting, pinning, ironing and sewing have finally paid off. Now I am off to prepare for the Faith United Methodist Church Christmas show the weekend of Nov. 10.

After the kicking and screaming had sub-sided, and he forgot that he had the costume on, Elliott turned out to be a pretty cute Superman. I had this great (and somewhat unrealistic) notion to hand-make him a costume....but somehow Halloween has snuck up on me this year...and this is the best I could find at the last minute that had no head piece or special shoe requirements....apparently we are going thru a picky shoe phase and only Elmo shoes will do....

This is my first attempt at those cute "grab-n-go" diaper carriers I've seen posted on Etsy. I thought I would take a stab at one myself. I have a few tweaks to make, so this one will obviously be Elliott's new diaper carrier.

But for all the moms out there, you know how annoying it is to lug the whole diaper bag into the restroom to change baby and then by some magical force of nature, hold squirming baby down on the changing table with one hand, while rummaging around for what you need in the gigantic diaper bag with the other....well NO MORE! This thing holds a travel pack of wipes, 2 diapers, and probably a tube of butt paste:) i'll have to see if i can get that in there....i'll keep ya posted.

This cute, little, darn thing is all you will need to grab-n-go do what ya gotta do.
I love it, and can't wait to test it out this weekend.....well actually I CAN wait to test it out, but hopefully this will make things a bit less stressfull. Watch for matching changing pads, soon to come!

Our second annual B'burg trip was this past weekend....

Good times were had by all for the VT vs. UNC game!

This was Elliott's second Vt football game...

all tuckered out after a big win for the HOKIES!!! i got to see and spend time with my great friend Susie...

I've finally had a little time to work on a few things that have been sitting at the bottom of my "to sew" pile.

This is a great quick outing, diaper/ carry-all bag for babies and toddlers....or even mommies:)

I've made the outer pockets big enough to hold Elliott's sippy cups, and there are 2 smaller interior pockets stitched on the inside. I plan to make a few more in other colors and patterns for the next show and hopefully have them coordinate with all my other baby items.

so i figured it was time to get a logo, and make this thing real....haha....
i went to vista print to make new business cards and started playing around with their "logo creator", and this is what it produced...i liked it so much i paid to download the jpegs and pdf files of it. I am envisioning all sorts of good things now.....

Elliott's cousin Keegan Mulkey turned 1 on July 7th, and if you don't know, my family members are some of the biggest St. Louis Cardinal fans around! So I thought I would take a stab at making him a St. Louis Cardinal birthday gift....I haven't sent it yet, but I sure hope he likes it:)

I handstitched the thread around the baseball. Onesie's are not my forte, like my friend Dana over at plum*tree*studio , but I was quite happy with the way it turned out.
